A Great Start!

Our journey to the Isle of Wight yesterday was smooth and trouble free.  Spirits were high with the anticipation of the week ahead. The Solent was flat for our ferry journey and hundreds of people turned out at Portsmouth to wave us off [we later found out that they had come to wave off the last voyage of the Arc Royal – not that we told the children!]

On our arrival at Kingswood, we were given a very warm welcome by the energetic Kingswood Team.
After a quick tour of the site, pupils were given a chance to stretch their legs on the playing fields - games of frisbee, football and cricket were enjoyed by all.

After dropping luggage in their rooms, it was straight off to first activities – up high abseiling or on the precarious balance beam or climbing for some. Low down on hands and knees caving or developing their fencing skills for others. This was followed by our first delicious meal in the diner!

As we write this, pupils are busy getting their dorms ready for their second inspection by Mr Reed.  If previous years are anything to go by, standards are high and nothing will go unnoticed (not even a crooked hair brush). 'Ten-out-of-ten' will be hard to score!

A busy morning is planned and then we will all be on the beach this afternoon taking part in the sandcastle building competition [hopefully the sun will shine so some staff can top up their tans!]. Tonight we will all watch a film together followed [hopefully] by a good sleep!
